Nizozemská fotbalová reprezentace se bude muset na mistrovství Evropy obejít bez Erika Pieterse. Třiadvacetiletý obránce PSV Eindhoven se podle agentury AP trenérovi Bertu van Marwijku omluvil kvůli zranění nohy. V předběžné šestatřicetičlenné nominaci ho nahradil Alexander Büttner z Vittese Arnhem.

Ve výběru je deset z jedenácti hráčů, kteří před dvěma lety nastoupili ve finále světového šampionátu proti Španělsku (0:1) v základní sestavě. Van Marwijk povolal také Ibrahima Afellaye z Barcelony, přestože pětadvacetiletý záložník po operaci levého kolena loni v říjnu v této sezoně odehrál pouhé tři zápasy.

Nizozemsko se na turnaji, který od 8. června do 1. července bude hostit Polsko a Ukrajina, v základní skupině utká s Dánskem, Německem a Portugalskem.
